Tell Congress: Love Your Neighbor and Hold ICE Accountable

On January 7, in a Minneapolis neighborhood, Renee Nicole Good was fatally shot by an ICE officer while attempting to drive away. This devastating killing was not an isolated incident. It was not even the only shooting by a federal agent that week—two more people were shot by a CBP agent in Portland the next day.

These horrific events confirm what we already know: when a regime that values power over human life is allowed to operate without accountability, violence follows. That is why it will take all of us coming together now to push back.

In a statement following her wife's death, Becca Good shared these words about Renee:

"Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow. Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole."

Good felt called by her faith to love her neighbors and stand up for them. As fellow Christians walking the way of Jesus, we recognize that same call. We do not shy away from speaking prophetic truth to power, because that is what our faith demands.

Right now, Congress faces a January 30 deadline to fund the federal government, including the Department of Homeland Security and expanded ICE facilities. This moment matters. If we raise our voices together, we can demand a different path.

Take action now and tell your congressional leaders to withhold funding for ICE in the next appropriations bill!
