Advent Activism Week1 - Honoring holy hope

For many Christians, today marks the first day of Advent -- a four-week season of waiting and anticipation leading up to the day we celebrate Jesus's birth. These weeks are a time to pray, reflect, and renew our faith in the promises made through God's endless love for us all (no exceptions!).
The first week of Advent calls us to lean into one of the most important themes of organizing and activism -- Hope.
As followers of the way of Christ, we understand the importance of hope. While systems of authoritarianism rage in our halls of power, it is hope that helps us envision a new world where everyone is valued, secure, and has all they need to thrive. It is hope that will gather us, strengthen us, and send us out to take action to create that new, beloved community we imagine.
And, for us as social-justice Christians, all this begins with the radical hope that a baby from the backwater region of Galilee, born in Bethlehem, could be the salvation of the whole world.
This Advent, we invite you to lean into holy hope by thanking the people who inspired and motivated you during this long year of faithful resistance to the Trump regime.
